VILLAGE RESIDENCE HALLS
brandeis UNIVERSITY, waltham, MA
The program for the 220 bed residence hall is broken down into three interconnected buildings to create a new sense of community for life on campus. Located at the entrance to the university, the buildings form a new gateway that marks the beginning to an ascending network of circulation paths that demarcate the hilly campus terrain. The building contains a fitness center open to the entire university community and each building houses double height social study spaces, common kitchens, and its own outdoor courtyard and entrance. The building was affectionately named “The Village” by its users.
