The new Greenway Residences focuses on creating a diverse community that connects the historic past and future of Amherst College. The 110,000 sf project is broken down into four interconnected buildings that surround a central outdoor community space. The porous arrangement of the buildings allow for fluid movement and views through to various areas of the campus. The buildings are oriented to the south to benefit from solar exposure and allow for spectacular views to the mountains beyond. A variety of unit types are provided as well as numerous social common areas; including a 2,500 sf multipurpose event space, seminar rooms, a demonstration kitchen, a yoga space, and a series of outdoor intermural sports courts and performance area with large wooden landscaped seating. Sustainable features include radiant heating and cooling concrete slab system, exterior solar shades, and rainwater collection system.
